The third leg of the Safari Tour Golf series teed-off today at the Limuru Country Club with a PRO-AM tournament that brought together over 40 local and regional professionals who got paired with over 100 amateurs. Inclement weather ushered the event in the morning, adding to the challenge at the Par-72 course.
The PRO-AM took place ahead of the main tournament proper of the third leg of the Tour which tees off tomorrow at the same venue, bringing together over 40 golf professionals form Kenya and East Africa who will be playing for a stake of the KES. 1 Million total prize kitty.
Local pros including David Wakhu who won the first leg in Nyali, Greg Snow, who won the second leg at Vet Lab, Dismas Indiza, winner of the 2018 Uganda Open, Riz Charania, David Opati, David Okello, Sujan Shah and Nelson Mudanyi led the local professionals field today. Meanwhile, Nuru Molel of Tanzania and Philip Kasozi of Uganda who played in the second leg, alongside Abbey Bagalana of Uganda joined the Kenyan pros at todays tournament ahead of the main event starting tomorrow. The PRO-AM follows a golf clinic, which was held at the same venue yesterday, that saw local pros share golf skills with junior golfers to encourage players to take up the sport at an early age.
The Safari Tour is an initiative of the Kenya Open Golf Limited aimed at preparing Kenyan pro golfers for the 2019 Kenya Open Golf Championship.
