One of Kenya's most successful Professional golfers, Dismas Indiza, led his Pro-Am team to victory at the Vet Lab Sports Club during the second leg of the Safari Tour Golf Series which teed-off yesterday. Indiza played in the company of Hiren Joshi, Martin Makundi and Karuri Waweru and returned a combined score of 87 points to claim the top Pro-Am slot.
Indiza's score of 2-under par gross, made up of birdies on the 4th, 10th, 14th and 15th holes and a pair of bogeys on the 3rd and 11th holes, was enough to lift his team to victory.
Speaking after his round, Indiza said the Vet Lab golf course was in ideal championship conditions. "The Vet Lab course is one of the best in the country and I believe that the green keeping staff have put in extra effort for the Safari Tour and we appreciate it," he said. "The greens were quick today and I expect they will be even faster during the Safari Tour's four professional rounds."
The team of Sigona's Pro John Wangai and amateurs Sanjay Thakkar, Rakesh Lakhani and Solomon Atsiya finished in second place with 82 points whilst the team of Vet Labs resident professional Matthew Omondi and amateurs Racheal Kimani, Yutaka Asami and Balsajith Sivadas finished third with 80 points.
Indiza collected Sh30,000 for his efforts, while Wangai banked Sh20,000 and Omondi took home Sh10,000.
Other notable rounds by the Pros during the Pro-Am included a 2-under par round by Windsor's Riz Charania, a 1-under par round by Tanzania's Nuru Mollel and the best of the day, a 3-under par round by Vet Labs Nelson Simwa who fired six birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 12th and 16th holes.
The first round of the main event tees off today, Sunday 2nd September 2018 and will continue for four days concluding on Wednesday the 5th of September 2018. The Pro's will be competing for a total prize kitty of Sh1m.
